Stanley Shapshay, M.D., Appointed Professor at Albany Med
ALBANY, N.Y., August 29, 2006--The Albany Medical Center recently announced the appointment of Stanley Shapshay, M.D., as professor in the department of otolaryngology at Albany Medical College. Dr. Shapshay will join the partners of University Ear, Nose & Throat of Northeastern NY, LLP, an affiliate of Albany Medical Center.
Most recently, Dr. Shapshay served as professor of otolaryngology--head and neck surgery at Mt. Sinai School of Medicine and Medical Center. He has also served as professor and chairman at Tufts University School of Medicine, and has held appointments at Boston Medical Center and Lahey Clinic Medical Center.
Dr. Shapshay's clinical interests include laryngology and the management of airway disease, and his research interests include the application of new laser delivery systems in the treatment of laryngological disorders. In addition to general otolaryngology, he will see patients in a joint voice clinic with Lisa Galati, M.D., of University ENT, employing the latest videostrobe technology to photograph vocal cords in slow motion to assess their function more accurately.
Dr. Shapshay completed a residency in otolaryngology at Boston University/Tufts School of Medicine, and also had surgical training at Tufts New England Medical Center, Boston. He performed a surgical fellowship at Serafimer Hospital Karolinska Medical School in Stockholm, Sweden. He received his medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia.
