Cerebrovascular Disease - Cavernous Malformations
There are other vascular anomalies of the brain namely cavernous malformations and venous anomalies. These are abnormalities of the capillary portion of the vessel. These are slow flow lesions that carry a very small risk of bleeding.
Albany Med Advantage
At times, surgical treatment is required if the patient has suffered from bleeding, but in most cases, these lesions can be observed. Physicians must manage headaches or seizures as a result of these lesions, and this is done best with medical management by the Neurosciences Institute’s interdisciplinary team that includes fellowship-trained physicians both in epilepsy, headache management, as well as neurosurgery to provide the most effective treatment of cavernous malformations.
